    What DPI actually does

    DPI (dots per inch) tells printers how large to print an image. A 600 × 600 pixel photo at 300 DPI prints at 2 × 2 inches; the same pixels at 200 DPI print at 3 × 3 inches. On screen, the DPI makes no difference at all.

    Some forms check the DPI value, often asking for 200 or 300 DPI. This tool rewrites that value without touching the pixels, so there is no quality loss.

    Changing DPI and size together

    If your form gives a size in centimetres or inches plus a DPI, open Settings, choose cm or in as the unit, and type the size. The tool calculates the pixels from the DPI. You can add a KB limit at the same time.

    Questions

    Will changing DPI make my photo sharper?

    No. Sharpness depends on the number of pixels. Changing DPI only changes the print size label.

    How can I check the DPI of my file?

    On Windows, right-click the file, choose Properties > Details and look at Horizontal resolution. On a Mac, open it in Preview and choose Tools > Show Inspector.

    Is my photo uploaded to a server?

    No. The resizing runs inside your browser with JavaScript, so the image stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share it with "Share by link" in the Download step. Once the page has loaded, resizing keeps working even if you go offline. If your device can't handle an image, the tool can shrink it on our server instead, but only if you agree, and it is deleted right away.
